Drunk Driver Runs Over Instructor

A women who was receiving a driving lesson accidentally ran over her instructor, who had to be airlifted to a local hospital.

Victoria Hosner was being taught how to drive by David Tanner, when she accidentally hit the gas pedal and reversed backwards into Tanner. The instructor was standing near the vehicle and when Hosner backed up he was knocked on the ground and the car ran over his leg. Hosner continued to drive backwards and caused about $6,000 in damage in addition to Tanner's injuries.

A deputy thought Hosner's eyes were bloodshot and her breath smelled of alcohol, according to the sheriff's office. A test measured her blood-alcohol level at .146, above Florida's .08 legal limit.

Hosner could now be charged with driving under the influence, and three counts of driving under the influence with damage to property or person. She can also be charged with driving without a license.
