Soon, we may be able to back our vehicles more safely. "The Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida is conducting research into rear view vision systems on vehicles." Tampa Bay Business Journal

The Safe Accountable, Flexible Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users has authorized $800,000 for the study.

One of the systems being evaluated is PowerLinx Inc.'s power line rear vision system. The study is trying to find ways to reduce fatalities, injuries and property damage caused by back-over crashes involving cars and trucks.

PowerLinx believes the study will validate the effectiveness of rear vision video systems in the reduction of property and personal injury and the ease of installation and use of power line rear vision systems, the company said in a release.
