A 13-year-old boy died on Saturday from injuries he sustained in a car accident on Alligator Alley, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The boy was traveling with his father, 43, sister, 9, and Mother 36, all of Tampa, police said.

It appears he lost control of the vehicle and drove up onto the grass median, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The 2000 Isuzu Rodeo partially flipped and stopped in the median.

The boy was taken by helicopter to Broward General Hospital. The others were taken by ambulance to the hospital. FHP says the cause of the crash did not appear but to be alcohol related but the accident is still under investigation.
