Tractor-Trailer Accident on Tampa Highway

Today at 12:50 P.M. there was a tractor-trailer accident in the southbound lanes of I-275. The tractor-trailer hit the back of another truck and flipped over, spilling the contents of the truck, which was full of sand. There were no injuries reported in the accident.

All but one lane of South I-275. remained closed until 2:50 P.M. today because crews had to clean the mess left by the tractor-trailer and it's contents.

King apparently swerved to avoid a 2007 Freightliner in front of him, but his tractor trailer struck it anyway, Coggins said. King's Mack tractor trailer then entered the median, struck a guardrail and turned over, losing its load of sand.

King was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with minor injuries, Coggins said. He was cited for careless driving.
