For more than 35 years Bob Carroll has focused his legal practice on the rights of the injured. In addition to his skills as a Florida Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, Bob has used his experiences as a former Special Agent in the FBI, Assistant Public Defender, Municipal Judge, host of TV’s live FLA LAW program and Chairman of his Bar Association’s Technology Committee to successfully pursue compensation for the victims of automobile accidents, medical malpractice, defective products, misfiled prescriptions and other wrongful acts.
“My firm and I are willing and able to devote the time and resources to seeking the fair compensation deserved by each injured victim. There is no one, single path to a recovery--each situation requires its own special research and approach.”
For more than 35 years Bob Carroll has focused his legal practice on the rights of the injured in the extended Tampa Bay area and throughout the State of Florida.
In addition to his skills as a Florida Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, Bob has used his experiences as a former Special Agent in the FBI, Assistant Public Defender, Municipal Judge, host of TV’s live FLA LAW program and Chairman of his Bar Association’s Technology Committee to successfully pursue compensation for the victims of automobile accidents, medical malpractice, defective products, misfilled prescriptions and other wrongful acts.
Bob Carroll was born in Camden, New Jersey, but was raised in Clearwater and Largo, Florida. Bob received his law degree from the University of Florida at Gainesville and joined the FBI as a Special Agent.
After intensive training in Washington, D.C., and Quantico, Virginia, Special Agent Carroll’s duties took him to many of the towns of Arkansas, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania. He met J. Edgar Hoover and participated in the investigation of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Bob returned to Clearwater, Florida, to serve as an Assistant Public Defender and to join the law firm of Muscarella & Perenich, the first firm in Pinellas County to exclusively represent injured persons and the survivors of a wrongful death.
He is now a senior partner in the Perenich & Carroll firm which has six offices on the West Coast of Florida. The law firm, which is eight attorneys strong with a support staff of over 50, continues to be a dedicated and aggressive voice of the injured.
Bob has developed a special interest and expertise in the representation of head-injured victims. This expertise was acquired through active participation in a local head injury support group, attendance at national conferences, and the representation of numerous head-injured victims. “The devastation caused even by what is sometimes called a ‘mild head injury’ must be understood and forcefully conveyed to a jury in order for a head-injured victim and his family to receive just compensation,” Bob has noted.
“I have been honored to represent severely injured persons whose lives have been devastated by the momentary carelessness or recklessness of another. In other instances, I have been able to show that a corporation, through a pattern of negligent activities, has caused a lifetime of suffering.”
In one medical malpractice case, Bob was able to prove that a patient was improperly transferred by ambulance from one local hospital to another in violation of the Federal Anti-Patient-Dumping Statute. In another case, Bob established that a child drowned during a swimming lesson due to totally improper teaching methods and supervision of the class. Sexual abuse of a nursing home patient by a member of the staff was proven by Bob in a third case. In these cases fair and substantial recoveries for the clients were obtained.
“These are examples of the efforts that are necessary when representing the victims of misconduct in our society. My firm and I are willing and able to devote the time and resources to seeking the fair compensation deserved by each injured victim. There is no one, single path to a recovery--each situation requires its own special research and approach.”
In addition to attending legal and medical seminars to improve his skills as a trial advocate for injured persons he has also attended national computer and Internet programs. This special interest has helped Perenich & Carroll to more efficiently and effectively represent its clients in the pursuit of a fair settlement or jury award. “Access to national databases and sources of information concerning product defects, medical standards, expert witnesses, prior litigation, and other important topics is critical,” Bob states.
Bob and his wife, Beth, have lived in Palm Harbor, Florida, since 1973 and are proud to have raised two wonderful children, Sandy and Nick.
