Banquet Pot Pies Recalled for Salmonella

An advisory about not fully cooking pot pies has turned into a larger recall for name brand and generic pot pies sold by ConAgra. The recalled pot pies my have been contaminated by salmonella. There have been 174 reported cases of food poisoning linked to the recalled pot pies.

The outbreak has prompted a voluntary recall of some Banquet and generic-brand pot pies made by ConAgra Foods.

The generic-brand pot pies are sold under the Kroger and Meijer brand label and the Great Value label, which is sold at Wal-Mart stores.

Critics say ConAgra's delay in recalling the pot pies increased the chance that more people could get sick.

The pot pies were made at a plant in Missouri. The part of the plant has been closed while the company undergoes an investigation. The recall involves chicken, turkey and beef pot pies.
