Baby Buggy Bumper posts information regarding a voluntary recall of 16-inch BMX Bicycles. The manufacturer - Harley-Davidson. The Easy Rider image must be softening at Harley. Or, it has made a marketing decision to build brand loyalty before puberty. A dangerous and defective product is being pulled from the market before it can cause serious injuries.

How can this be? Baby Buggy Bumper posts information regarding a voluntary recall of 16-inch BMX Bicycles. The manufacturer - Harley-Davidson. The Easy Rider image, so carefully cultivated over many years, must be softening at Harley. Or, it has made a marketing decision to build brand loyalty before puberty.

In any event, reading the full post reminds us how important the voluntary recall of dangerous or defective products is for our safety and the safety of our children. Hopefully, serious injuries can be avoided. Thank you, Baby Buggy Bumper.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced the recall of the children's bikes, which are distributed by World Wide Cycle Supply Inc., of Islandia, N.Y. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. You can see a list of all the serial numbers of the recalled bicycles at the Harley-Davidson Recall release.

Hazard: The fork that holds the front wheel can separate at the weld, causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries.

Description: The bicycle has a yellow and red painted flame pattern with a yellow fork and a sticker containing the words “Harley-Davidson” on the fork leg.

Remedy: Consumers should stop riding the bicycle immediately and return it to a Toys “R” Us store for store credit in the amount of the purchase price.

Consumer Contact: Call World Wide Cycle Supply at (800) 944-9951 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the Toys R Us Web site at www.toysrus.com. These bicycles were sold through a licensing arrangement with Harley-Davidson and were not manufactured by Harley-Davidson. Consumers should not contact Harley-Davidson.
