Some surgeries are more complicated than others. Putting rods into a patient's back definitely requires training and experience. Apparently, Dr. Jacques didn't think it was such a big deal.

An $11 Million medical malpractice verdict is the result.

He went to a local hospital for surgery and left with irreversible damage. Now a jury has awarded the Boynton Beach man more than 11-million dollars, finding the hospital and the doctor responsible for putting him in a wheelchair.

Sam Sanguonchitte went to JFK Medical Center nearly 7 years ago for spinal surgery. Instead, he says, Dr. Jacques Farkas performed a surgery he wasn't trained to do, including putting rods into Sam's neck.

Months later, those rods began to move. Sanguonchitte now has irreversible spine and brain damage.

The jury ruled that the hospital and doctor were accountable for medical malpractice. JFK says it "plans to aggressively appeal the decision."
