Hit and Run Driver Kills Tampa Man in Wheelchair

A man in a wheelchair was killed by a hit and run driver in Tampa on Sunday. The pedestrian accident happened at Main Street and Rome Avenue. He was hit by an unidentified pickup truck.

The victim

was hit by a brown Ford pickup truck that ran a red light, and they say the driver was trying to avoid another car when they hit the wheelchair. After the crash, they say the driver never stopped.
Police are asking the driver responsible to come forward, and anyone who has information about the accident is asked to call the Tampa Police Department.

The victim lived in the neighborhood and was going to a local store at the time of the accident. The police are actively investigating the accident and could use the help of anyone that witnessed it.

Brooksville Man Dies in Hit and Run Accident

A man was killed in a hit and run accident after being struck by a car in Brooksville. The pedestrian accident happened early Monday morning. The victim was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa where he later died. The driver of the car that hit the victim left the scene of the accident.

The driver of the car, Jason Morgan Blair, 29, of Brooksville, faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death or personal injury. Blair was quickly tracked down by police and arrested shortly after the accident, according to police. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail and released after posting $500 bail.

The man was hit on State Road 50 in Brooksville. An autopsy is being performed to see if the car accident was the reason the victim died. The police are still investigating the accident. Drug or alcohol use is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Plant City Train Accident Injures Pedestrian

Two pedestrians were injured in two seperated incidents about 15 hours apart from each other in Plant City. Both men were hit by trains. The pedestrian accidents happened on Thursday.

In the first acciden two men

were walking west on the CSX tracks west of Waller Street, not far from Wheeler Street, when a train hauling chemicals approached, police said. Raymond was able to get out of the way but the engine clipped Nelson, police said.

The victim in that incident was taken to the hospital for observation and later released. The second accident happened near Calhoun and Palmer Streets. A man was hit by a train and his right foot was injured. He is currently at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Both train accidents are being investigated by the police.

Pedestrian Accident Injures Woman in Syracuse

A 20-year-old woman in Syracuse was hit by a car on Sunday afternoon. The pedestrian accident happened at Midland Ave. and W. Brighton Ave.

The victim

was crossing Midland Ave when she was hit by a minivan. There is a light at the intersection and police are trying to determine who had the right of way at the time of the crash.

The victim was taken to a local hosptial to be treated for severe head injuries. The police are still investigating the accident and no charges or citations have been filed.

Florida University Student Killed in Crosswalk

A student at the University of Central Florida was killed after being hit in a crosswalk on Alafaya Trail. The pedestrian accident happened early on Wednesday morning. The victim was 18-years-old and from Sarasota.

The victim

was struck first by a Volkswagen Jetta in the outside lane, then knocked into the middle lane where he was hit by a Toyota Corolla, according to the accident report.

A man was killed in May on Alafaya Trail. The road is 10 lanes across at the point of Wednesday's accident. Students that live in the area say the crosswalk is not timed long enough for a safe crossing. The Florida Highway Patrol does not consider the area a problem area for pedestrians.

Teenager Injured in Topeka Pedestrian Accident

Two people were trying to cross S.W. 21st Street in Topeka when one of them was hit by a car. A 14-year-old girl was injured in the pedestrian accident.

The other female stopped in the center turn lane of the five-lane street to wait for passing traffic, Thompson said. The victim continued running and was struck by a white car traveling east in the left-hand lane on S.W. 21st.
When police arrived, the victim was lying in a grassy area just south of the S.W. 21st Street curb. Her injuries included abrasions, but she was conscious, police said. She was taken to St. Francis Health Center by American Medical Response ambulance.

The driver of the car was not hurt in the accident. No charges have been filed and the police are still investigating.

Pedestrian Hit by Five Cars and Killed on I-4

A man trying to cross Interstate 4 near I-75 was hit by five cars and killed. There were heavy rains at the time and only one driver stopped. The victim is believed to be a 49-year-old man from Brandon. The pedestrian accident was witnessed by a couple that was working on their truck alongside the road.

FHP investigators said the man had reached the interstate's center lane when an unknown vehicle struck him, knocking him back into the inside lane, where he was clipped by the mirror of 2004 Ford Taurus.
That sent him back into the center lane, where another vehicle, described only as dark in color, hit him. After that, two more vehicles, both traveling in the center lane, ran over the man, said an FHP news release.

The Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the accident and are searching for the other drivers and cars. They are asking eyewitnesses and anyone involved to step forward.

Pedestrian Hit by Two Cars in Pompano Beach

A woman was out walking on an overpass for the Florida Turnpike in Pompano Beach when she was struck by a car. She fell onto the freeway and was hit by another car. The pedestrian accident happened on Saturday morning.

The impact sent the woman over a barrier wall and onto the inside northbound lane of the Turnpike where she was struck again by another car.
Neither motorist stopped, the report said. The unidentified woman's body was found face down on the road.

The woman was killed. She is believed to be around 30-years-old. Neither car stopped at the scene. The police are investigating and trying to find the drivers of both vehicles.

San Francisco Pedestrian Injured in Accident

A hit and run driver in San Francisco struck an elderly pedestrian as he was crossing the road. The pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of California Street and Hyde Street.

"He ended up on the hood of the vehicle and the vehicle continued for about 25 feet with the victim on the hood," Gittens said. "The suspect stopped the vehicle, and the victim rolled off the hood onto the street."
The car, which witnesses described as either a gray Nissan or blue Toyota, then continued eastbound on California Street toward Leavenworth Street, Gittens said.

The 70-year-old pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The police are investigating and ask anyone with information to please contact them.

Lakeland Pedestrian Killed by Truck

An 89-year-old man from Lakeland was killed when he was trying to cross State Road 37. He was struck by a freight truck. The pedestrian accident happened at the intersection with County Road 540A.

The victim

walked into the front left side of the truck's trailer. He was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the truck was not hurt. The police are still investigating the accident and deciding if charges against the truck driver are warranted.
