A Clearwater woman has suffered the tragic death of her son in a motorcycle crash and is doing her best to save the lives of other motorcyclists.

Mom on a mission to promote motorcycle safety

Clearwater, Florida - As Diane Pearson watches cars whiz by on McMullen Booth Road, the scene revs up her fears.

In May of last year, Pearson's 31-year-old son Gene died in a motorcycle crash. While going faster than the speed limit, Gene rammed into the back of a car that had pulled out onto the road.

Diane Pearson says the car's driver never saw Gene's motorcycle coming. And the crash scene with her son's body covered by a tarp is now a horrific memory.

Since then, Diane Pearson has been promoting this safety message: Look Twice-Save A Life. Motorcycles Are Everywhere.

Bus benches carry the purple and white message and so do placards on some Yellow Cabs. Pearson also never misses a chance to hand out bumper stickers and she'll soon be placing them in all Pinellas driver license offices.

Pearson is a mom on a mission and she's driven by her son.

Diane is right that motorcycles are almost invisible to drivers who are programmed to scan the roadways for cars, trucks and buses. Over the years many drivers have testified in depositions that I never saw the motorcycle - the fact is that their brain did not register the motorcycle in most instances.

Thank you, Diane, for your efforts and, TampaBays10.com, for bringing the efforts to our attention.
